What is Youth Connections?

Youth Connections is a locally based youth service working for young people in Inverclyde. We use a variety of methodologies including, inter - generational work, Group Work, Youth Work, Specialist Groups, Tutored Work , One to One Learning Programmes, Adult Groups, Summer Play-schemes and Programmes, Community Events, Digital Skills classes, Employability Initiatives , Anti Poverty Work, Specialist Art Initiatives , Music programmes and good old fashioned Adult Kid relationship building. We operate in all community settings and even deliver some programmes in schools on partnership with local businesses Housing associations and organisations

How is it funded?

Our Core funding comes from the local authority and is currently to the tune of £100k.Over the past three years we have brought into the community from other funders approximately quarter of a million pounds. A list of these funders can be found here

How is it managed?

Youth Connections is managed by a board of Directors made up of Young People and supportive Adults, Currently eight strong 5 young people 3 adults and 4 ex officio members,

The project also has a young persons advisory committee made up of 12 young people who relay day to day issues to the board who consider the issues and take appropriate action, usually through our executive officer.

How many people are employed?

We currently employ 12 members of staff and we have a growing team of volunteers totalling 8 members

When are you open?

Generally speaking, Burns square is opened Daily, 9 - 5 Monday to Friday and in the evenings from 7 - 10 Monday to Thursday. Gibshill opening times can be found on the Gibshill page and for specific activities and times of :Burns Square, see current programme
